So what's going on? For anyone who would like a reminder, or for readers who might have missed our initial announcement, we'll recap.
We've decided to push out a bit here at R&B HQ, to incorporate more posts, more often, featuring more original content. Here's another look at the schedule we've planned:
Sunday - our weekly Spotify ROUTES-cast
Monday - Traipsing thru the Aisles: shorter original capsule reviews
Tuesday - our weekly longform original review
Wednesday - Lookback Machine: devoted to stuff from past years
Thursday - A Routes & Branches Guide To Feeding Your Monster: our weekly news round-up
Friday - What's So Great About This Week?!! (our favorite songs from the week)
As mentioned at the beginning of the week, we'll also be giving readers a chance to express their support financially, a rollout that we'll begin soon. It's our plan to remain a free site, but we'd also like to be able to continue to devote more of our time to these endeavors, to gradually make Routes & Branches a premier online destination for our kind of music.
In the spirit of our new, daily posting schedule, Fridays will be dedicated to identifying our favorite songs of the week. Which won't be difficult, though it will entail a shift in how we've typically processed all the new stuff we share every week via our Spotify ROUTES-cast. Much like you, I suppose, we don't tend to listen all the way through until those playlists are posted. Much of our time is spent listening to new records, enjoying last week's ROUTES-cast, etc.
So for this inaugural Episode of WHAT's SO GREAT ABOUT THiS WEEK?!! we're going to keep with our previous tradition of sharing our ten favorite cuts from the entire month passed. For one last time, we'll call it:
