Hello Christmas. Welcome. Wait

Wait until I'm ready. Give me a sec to quiet the noises in my head. Let me clean up a bit before you come in. Sorry, things aren't where they should be.

Don't get me wrong. I'm really happy you've shown up again. It's always good to see you. It's just that sometimes it's hard for me to make space in my home. My head. My heart. And then by the time you're on your way out it's probably too late.

You see, there's just so much going on. You know, with the job, the blog ... all the stuff that just comes up. I'm sure you know it's been an odd year, navigating the pandemic and all.

Just clear off a seat and make yourself at home. Let me throw on some music.

Ready or not: Christmas is here. And so is a new slate of holiday music. Here at R&B HQ our halls are appropriately decked. Every year we curate a ROUTES-cast bustling with our kind of music, trads alongside originals, good stuff sharing space with choices of questionable merit. Our hope is that it prepares a place in your life for the spirit of the season, provides a soundtrack for decorating or unwrapping or just sittin' 'n bein'.

This year we herald the arrival of new stuff from Hiss Golden Messenger and Pistol Annies. We stuff your stocking with collections from Amanda Shires and Lori McKenna, and with singles from Morgan Wade, from Spoon and from the long lost Laura Cantrell. Give it a try, really. You can always return what doesn't fit. It's the thought that counts.
