ROUTES & BRANCHES
featuring the very best of americana, alt.country and roots music
March 27, 2022
Scott Foley, purveyor of dust

In the next couple days we'll be committing to both our favorite songs for the month and preferred albums for the first quarter of 2022. The road between here and June is paved with some promising releases, all thoroughly documented on A Routes & Branches Guide To Feeding Your Monster. The reliably relevant Paradise of Bachelors label is set to reissue an essential pair of Terry Allen's early 1980s projects. On May 6, we'll see deluxe packages for both Bloodlines and Smokin the Dummy - vinyl aficionados will want to track down the label's superb LP packages. Delta Spirit has shared information about their next release. One Is One arrives May 20 (the busiest release date this year!) courtesy of New West Records. On the heels of last year's Hold Steady return, Craig Finn returns to the solo sphere with A Legacy of Rentals (Positive Jams, May 20). One of the biggest buzzes in progressive country music circles, Zach Bryan has been peppering us with singles for months. The Oklahoma phenom has set May 20 (of course) as the date for his debut studio project, American Heartbreak (Belting Bronco). Finally, Michaela Anne will be waiting til June for her next album. Set an alarm for June 10, when Oh to Be That Free lands wherever music matters (Yep Roc).
