THURSDAY MORNING MIX
November 11, 2010
Scott Foley

Lucky Peterson was a child prodigy, having recorded his first song at age 6. 39 years later, "Little" Lucky Peterson isn't so little anymore. Renowned for his keyboard skills, Peterson is also a strong guitarist, as he proves on his new CD, You Can Always Turn Around. The collection is rooted in trad blues, as evidenced by covers of classics from Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell and Rev Gary Davis. But throw into the mix covers of tunes by Ray Lamontagne, Lucinda Williams and Tom Waits, and Peterson's recorded himself a crossover album. This Episode features a stellar take on Bill Callahan's "I'm New Here".

This weekend, I plan to gather all my TMM playlists from the year and begin to compile my Year End Favorites list for songs and albums of 2010. Grab your Peanuts calendar, and put a Schroeder stamp on Thursdays, December 9 and December 30. The former will feature my favorite tunes, and the latter my favorite discs. Feel free to comment or email me your own favorites of the year.
