ROUTES & BRANCHES
featuring the very best of americana, alt.country and roots music
November 6, 2022
Scott Foley, purveyor of dust

Let's start this Episode by mapping out the rest of 2022, including favorites, holidays and Other Stuff:

November 27 - State of the Genre (we identify the artists and albums that are charting the course)
December 4 - Favorite Songs of 2022
December 11 - Favorite Albums of 2022
December 18 - R&B Holiday ROUTES-cast

Of course, dates are subject to change on a whim, so please add these to your calendar in pencil.

Even as we begin to place our tacky bow atop the year, we're adding new stuff to A Routes & Branches Guide To Feeding Your Monster daily. Bad Ends brings together stalwarts from the Athens, Georgia music scene, including onetime REM drummer Bill Berry. New West will be issuing their debut collection, Power and the Glory on January 20. One of next year's frontrunners for Most Promising Record of the Year comes from Sunny War. Their New West debut, Anarchist Gospel features contributions from Allison Russell, the Deslondes, Jim James and more (February 3). Way back in 2020, we heaped some deserving praise atop Brit Taylor's Real Me. Produced by Sturgill Simpson, her follow-up, Kentucky Blue is due February 3 on Cut A Shine Records. Are we ready for a new Lucero project? Yes. Set your sights on February 24 and the release of Should've Learned By Now (Liberty & Lament). Finally, Dougie Poole's 2020 Freelancer's Blues drew some positive review attention. Expect New Things with his February 24 collection, Rainbow Wheel of Death (Wharf Cat).
